The record for the highest transfer fee in world soccer history has just been broken.

It's a new record for this summer's transfer window. A flurry of signings in the English Premier League (EPL), with Saudi Arabia joining in on the fun, has resulted in some record-breaking sums of money.

In the EPL, Chelsea paid a record £115 million ($196.6 billion) for Moises Caicedo, the highest transfer fee in league history, while Arsenal paid a record £105 million ($172 billion) for Declan Rice. Saudi Arabia has been successful in landing a number of players, including Karim Benzema, Jordan Henderson, and Neymar.

The total transfer fee spent by soccer clubs around the world this summer is $7.36 billion ($9.8403 trillion). It's the most ever.

That's the official tally from Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). "Transfer 토토 spending from June 1 to September 1 reached a record high of $7.36 billion," FIFA said. This is 26.8% higher than the previous record set in 2019 and 42.7% higher than the same period in 2022."

By country, England led the way with $1.98 billion ($263.63 billion). Saudi Arabia came in second with $875.4 million ($1.165 trillion).

France ($859.5 million), Germany ($762.4 million), Italy ($94.6 million), and Spain ($456 million) round out the top five.

Notably, Saudi Arabia accounted for a 14% share of all transfer fees, which is also a first. It's the first time a non-European league has ever surpassed 10%.

There is one more first. Germany. Germany earned a total of $1.11 billion ($1.484 trillion) in transfer fees this summer. This is the first time that transfer fee revenue has ever exceeded $1 billion.
