Kim Min-Jae (28, Munich) will be the centerpiece of Bayern Munich's defense next season.

The Bavarians officially announced on Monday (June 29) that they have signed Kompany until June 30, 2027. This means that next season, Kim Min-jae will be tutored by the legendary defender.

Kompany held his official press conference on June 30th. Munich CEO Jan Christian Dresen, board member Max Eber, and other members of the club's leadership were in attendance. The Belgian-born Kompany scored a lot of points with his fluent German.

“We got the most exciting coach in Europe,” Eber said. I'm sorry we didn't make him an offer six weeks ago. But the best things are saved for last,” he joked.

“I'm very happy to be working in Munich,” said Kompany. My style is to be courageous and aggressive, to be a team. I want to play dominant football,” he declared.

“The club will stand behind the coach and give him all the support he needs,” Eber promised.

It's an aspiration that Kim Min-jae should take to heart. In his playing days, Kompany was a world-class defender at Manchester City. He joined City in 2008 after playing for Belgian giants Anderlecht and Bundesliga side Hamburg. He remained one of City's leading defenders until 2019.

For the first time in his career, Kim also met a manager who was a defender. Kompany is the first manager to recognize and utilize Kim's value. After 토토 being undervalued by Thomas Tuchel, it's expected that Kim will be used again.

Kompany is still a novice coach. He began his coaching career in 2019 with his hometown team Anderlecht. Last season, he was the head coach of Burnley in the English Championship (second division). Burnley won 29 games, drew 14 and lost 3 in the Championship, amassing a whopping 101 points and earning promotion to the Premier League after one season.

However, in Kompany's first season in the Premier League, Burnley won just five games and were relegated. Critics say he's still unproven in the big leagues. This is something Kompany will have to overcome.

Last season, Munich lost the league title to Leverkusen. Leverkusen finished unbeaten with a whopping 28 wins and six draws. It“s a record that Munich hasn”t achieved.

Will Kompany's arrival mean that Munich can once again win the title with Kim Min-jae at the helm? The pairing of Kim and Kompany is already highly anticipated.
